Our customers are very happy with our Demolition Services

Earlier this year when we decided to start subcontracting our demolition needs we contacted three companies, including Z Best. We gave all three companies a crack at a kitchen demolition and Z Best quickly set itself apart. We had damaged walls, broken pipes and scratched floors, but not with Z Best. Your men are professional, team players and they work well with our men in any capacity necessary.

Your management and scheduling is top notch; of the many jobs you've worked on for us you have yet to miss a date or fall short in any way. It is truly a pleasure to meet other business owners as dedicated to service and quality as we are. I look forward ot many years of the continued success that will result for both of our companies.

Sincerely,

Ed Rowland, Jr.
President: NDA Kitchen Co.

Time-Saving 'Ripouts' Aren't Rip-Offs
Home & Gardens - News Day
by Gary Dymski

Imagine how easy your next do-it-yourself remodeling project would be if you could get someone else to do the dirty work.

Cost of rubbish and ripout work varies. If a homeowner provides the labor, rental of a small rubbish container and disposal can cost from about $200 to $300 (a 5-yard or 10-yard dumpster). On larger rooms, such as a kitchen with appliances to be moved, it can cost as much as $1,500 for a company to do complete removal with labor and containers included.

"Rubbish companies generally charge by the cubic yard of debris that is to be carted away," says Izzy Castro of Z-Best Rubbish Removal in West Babylon. "A cubic yard is about the size of a regular washing machine - 3 feet high, 3 feet wide and 3 feet deep."

Other than money, one of the biggest roadblocks in do-it-yourself renovation is time. Hiring a ripout crew can cut time and reduce mess.

Companies such as Z-Best, which also specialize in outdoor and basement cleanups, work primarily for contractors. Contracts made directly with homeowners make up about 10 percent of their business, they say. "I guess most homeowners don't think of hiring us," Castro says. "They could probably cut their costs by dealing directly with us instead of letting the contractor figure the tearout into the cost of the project."

Except for a few guidelines, homeowners can find someone to do the dirty work by looking in the Yellow Pages under "rubbish" or "cleanup."

"We don't remove walls or do structural ripouts unless it is approved by an architect or contractor," Castro says. "We don't have the knowledge, generally, to make those calls." Homeowners planning structural changes should first consult with an architect or contractor. The homeowner should request that the estimate be given two ways - with a tearout and with the homeowner responsible for the tearout.

If there are concerns with removing hazardous materials, such as lead and asbestos, homeowners should first test to determine if these materials are present. If hazardous materials are present, then hiring a certified and licensed abatement company is required by law, experts say. Most rubbish removal and tearout companies don't deal with hazardous materials.

Castro from Z-Best Rubbish Removal started in the landscape business about 20 years ago. During the winter months, when there wasn't much work to do, they decided to branch out. "We started cleaning out basements in the winter," says Castro, who operates Z-Best with his two brothers, Tony & Joe. "When there was a death in a family or a house was being sold, realtors would contact us to clean out the junk from a basement." Z-Best does plenty of cleanup and rubbish removal for realtors as well as new homeowners. Old decks, fences, carpeting - everything goes.

Z-Best company does not do lawn care anymore. The ripout business is too good!
